The second installment of the "Irem Collection" series, which reprints Irem's arcade and home masterpieces into the latest models, is finally here! Contains 7 versions of 3 titles: "Gun Force" Japanese and American arcade versions, Super Famicom and SNES versions, "Geostorm" Japanese and American arcade versions, and "Air Duel" arcade versions! This is a long-awaited lineup that will be the first consumer port!
"Gunforce" is a side-scrolling action game released in 1991. Players take on the role of soldiers and use a variety of weapons to fight against enemies and advance. Gunforce's main appeal is that you can attack vehicles and mechs that appear in the middle of the stage, including tanks, helicopters, and even robots, and you can use a wide variety of attack methods to shoot flashily. It includes the arcade version, the later ported Super Famicom version, and the SNES version released in the United States, all of which support two-player simultaneous play. "Geostorm" is a sequel to "GunForce", which was released overseas as "GunForce II". Its major appeal lies in the vehicles and mechs that have evolved from the previous work, the unique enemy characters, the production that tells the story, and the flashy battles that are always exploding all over the screen, beautifully drawn with exquisite pixel art that can be described as craftsmanship. Like Gunforce, this game supports simultaneous play by two players. "Air Duel" is a vertically scrolling shooting game released in 1990 that allows two players to play simultaneously. At the start of each stage, you can choose your aircraft from two types: fighter planes and helicopters, and the attack methods are different.
It is important to choose an aircraft that matches the characteristics of the stage in order to conquer the stage. The detailed and beautiful 2D graphics that are characteristic of Irem's works are still present in this work, and the futuristic and somewhat dark mecha depictions have a unique charm.
All titles included support simultaneous play by two players (local multiplayer). Furthermore, in order to enjoy these masterpieces to the fullest, the game is equipped with various functions such as online ranking, on-the-spot rewind function, and save and load state.
The common appeal of past Irem works is the graphics and music that express a unique worldview at a high level. The limited edition includes a soundtrack containing the game's songs and a special art book containing graphics expressed with pixel art that can be considered as craftsmanship as luxurious bonuses. Be sure to purchase the limited edition to fully immerse yourself in the game, graphics, music, and Irem's masterpiece.
