[Product Description]
・[Four types of drivers, 5 drivers on each side] Kiwi Ears Quintet uses 4 types of drivers: 1 diamond-like carbon (DLC) dynamic driver, 2 balanced armature (BA) drivers, 1 planar magnetic driver, and 1 piezoelectric (PZT) bone conductor. With a total of five drivers per ear, Quintet delivers extremely high-resolution audio comparable to professional studio monitors. The subwoofer uses a large 10mm DLC driver that takes advantage of DLC's high responsiveness and tensile strength, and outputs impactful bass while attenuating at high speed. 2 Knowles' Balanced Armature Driver delivers natural, high-resolution midrange and is a prime example of why balanced armatures are loved in the industry. We are pleased to announce that AMT Acoustic's planar tweeter driver is now available in Quintet.
・[Kiwi Microplanar Transducer (MPT) Driver] Achieving high quality ultra treble has been a challenge in the IEM industry. Although BA drivers are compact, they have poor ultra-treble extension and have limitations in output and sound quality. EST (electrostatic) drivers are difficult to use in multi-driver setups because their output is very low and gets drowned out by the volume of other drivers. Additionally, EST drivers can have a very metallic sound at high voltages, which can give off an unnatural presence. That's why Kiwi Ears has developed a new ultra-treble tweeter with an incredible output of 118dB despite its tiny module size of just 5mm. The Kiwi MPT driver efficiently generates sustained high frequencies from 4kHz to 40kHz. In general BA drivers and EST drivers, the output in the high frequency range decreases after 8kHz.
- [Planar Drive Diaphragm, etc.] A new driver technology in the IEM industry, this new tweeter features a classic planar magnetic driver circuit, but with a smaller footprint for use in a hybrid design. With an extremely low noise floor and high output capacitance, this planar magnetic driver delivers crisp, detailed treble frequencies unlike the typical BA or EST (electrostatic) tweeters used in most IEMs today. Finally, piezoelectric drivers were utilized to achieve ultra-treble fine detail and airiness. In R&D tests, the presence of PZT drivers significantly improved audio resolution, texture, and soundstage.
- [Natural Sound] Kiwi Ears Quintet has inherited the natural and balanced tuning characteristics of Kiwi Ears. To meet the demands of professional musicians and audio engineers, the Kiwi Ears Quintet's sound quality is now similar to recording room ear monitors. Kiwi Ears Quintet adopts a 3-way structure to achieve complex separation, effectively reducing THD+N. Kiwi Ears Quintet's bass is now limited to the sub-bass frequency range. The peak value from 20Hz to 200Hz is 8dB. From 200Hz to 800Hz, there is only 1dB of distortion. The treble already matches the contour of the human ear, with a peak value of 7dB at 2.5KHz, and slowly decays from 10KHz. This precise process allows us to recreate every detail.
- [Excellent Audio Cable] The Kiwi Ears Quintet cable is a 4-core 7N oxygen-free copper (OFC) cable that can enhance the sound. Ultra-light materials are utilized to create this cable. This cable is designed with an internationally universal 0.78mm2pin connector and is compatible with most earphones on the market. In addition, a 3.5mm stereo plug is designed and is suitable for devices such as smartphones, laptops, and computers.
